Scartaglen Defibrillator

Following the fantastic news that Scartaglen National School would be receiving a defibrillator and storage cabinet, the entire staff and some members of the Parent’s Council took part in defibrillator and CPR training in the school. The training as well as the defibrillator and storage cabinet were all sponsored by Kirby Engineering. They are the main engineering company working on the wind turbines that are being built in the local area. The Parent’s Council worked very hard to secure this life-saving equipment for the school as well as organising the training which was provided by Safe Aid. The school would like to sincerely thank Kirby Engineering as well as our Parent’s Council.

Scartaglen Literacy Lift Off

We were delighted to recieve a very special delivery recently, over 500 new books! These levelled readers will be used for our Literacy Lift Off programme that runs in the school. The books were paid for by the Parent's Council using money raised at their Bingo fundraiser that was held in September. A huge thank you to the members of the Parent's Council for all their work and all of you who supported this fundraiser.

Scartaglen NS Table Quiz

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported our recent Pub Quiz fundraising event which raised a wonderful €791. It was a great night of fun and laughter while raising funds to support our school. Well done to the winning quiz team (pictured above). A special thanks to all those who donated spot prizes, made sandwiches, our entertaining MC Paul O’ Sullivan, O’ Sullivan Sound and Mary Breen of Flemings Bar who provided the hot food.

Halloween Disco 2016

The Parent’s Council held their annual Halloween Disco in aid of our school in the Heritage Centre on Friday 28th October. It was a great success and the children really enjoyed getting dressed up in their Halloween Costumes.

Scartaglen Table Quiz

The Parents Council held their annual Table Quiz on Saturday 23rd January. This is one of our main fundraisers and it was a great success with a fantastic turnout- a total of 17 tables on the night. Our thanks to everyone who supported this event, whether it was by participating in the Quiz, providing sandwiches or by providing all the wonderful spot prizes for the night. Our thanks also to O’Sullivan Sound and to Mary Breen who provided the venue and the hot food which was much appreciated by all. Our MC for the night was the entertaining Paul O’Sullivan and as usual he did a great job. Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners were most generous in handing back their prize money on the night. All of the money raised will go to providing extra-curricular activities throughout the year for the children of Scartaglen N.S. The total raised on the night from the tables and raffle was €770.
